What does the cover up child abuse within the Catholic Church do to the authority of the Pope?

Catholicism consists of a hierarchy of the Pope, Bishops and Priests and teaches that these can act as intermediaries between God and humanity, that they are in some way chosen by God and can grant (partially at least) salvation and absolution through confession (and in the Middle Ages salvation could be bought through indulgences). However how can Catholics really believe the Pope is chosen by God if for example Pope Benedict XVI knowingly covered up child abuse and did not take sufficient means to stop it from happening. In any other institution if one found ones colleagues were abusing children one would not hesitate to contact the police. Surely if these men are supposedly chosen by God they would not advocate child abuse? Isn't the very fact that the Pope did not act combined with the many failures of past popes (the uncomfortable ease at which they did not oppose fascism or the holocaust) surely an insurmountable objection to the Vatican and the entire Catholic Church having Godly authority? In The Times today Cardinal Jose Saraiva Martins claimed that the allegations of abuse are merely a 'conspiracy' and even defended the secrecy and cover up by comparing it to not wanting to 'wash your dirty laundry in public'. Surely such apparently 'Godly' men would realise that the of children was a little more serious than dirty laundry and making this comparison is an insult to the 1000's (or more) that have suffered throughout the centuries.

We have this lab setup with an airtrack and two carts of different mes. They each have a magnet on them so they repel each other. This is for a high school physics cl and we want them to weigh the carts and let them start with zero initial speed. Then they will let them go and we have meters that measure their speeds. So they could do this once and figure out if the two carts end with the same momentum but how can they do a bunch of trials and end up with a %uncertainty? Me and this girl have been friends for about 2 years now. I've been infatuated with her since early on in our friendship, we met in cl and hit of well and are similar in some ways. Cnet.com has great reviews and you can compare phones on it... I have a pearl and am not too crazy about it. The keypad is not the easiest to use... Yes, you must turn off power and drain the boiler to change the relief valve. You need only drain it enough to remove the relief valve without loss of water. Been awhile since I've touched C++, but this should be a pretty easy function. Just set up a "for" loop that goes from 0 to num_pts-1, and set up two local variables (outside of the for loop), let's say m and n. Now, for the first iteration of the loop, set m to -4 and n to -0.182 (the first two data points). For the next iteration, check that the next data points are greater than m and n. don't freak out ... it is really only dark chocolate that it toxic to dogs and one hershey kiss will do nothing ... i say that because last week i went out and left an entire bag of chocolate easter eggs wrapped in foil on the coffee table ... when i got home my dog had eaten every last one of those eggs including the tin foil and she is only 14 pounds ... she has had no ill effect from consuming these eggs (okay sparkly poop with the tin foil ping :O) ... i had another dog when i was in university who ate an entire chocolate cheesecake, again with no ill effect ... your pooch will be fine :O)

I live in the same zone as you do. I do not recommend Maple or Walnut unless you are prepared for the maintenance. I have both and spend many hours cleaning up Walnuts and the little propellar seeds from the Maples. A good shade tree I just started growing is the Tulip Poplar. It grows fast, is strong, and makes a great shade tree. It used to be popular for use in making canoes. It is also very pretty in the fall.

I was diagnosed with mono Friday night after I being tired of feeling like crap all Thursday. My doctor gave me a paper which states you are contagious the first two weeks. I told her how the Friday before I felt like I had the flu but it went away after being tested negative for swine and strep and then my fever came back so I came in. She said I am positive for mono. So I go home after she examines my spleen saying it's enlarged. I've been tired and having a sore throat since I was diagnosed and been taking ibuprofen. Now just because my fever is gone my mom thinks it's okay to send me off to school because since I don't have a temp, she says I'm not contagious. I have quite complicated living issues. I was born in Colombia of a Colombian-Italian dentist father who immigrated to Texas in the 90's when there was a shortage of dentists and a Swiss mother who lives in Switzerland. So until the age of 7 I lived in Colombia, at 7 I moved to Texas, then at 11 I moved to Switzerland, at 16 I moved back to the U.S. and now I'm in an American university (I'll be 19 next week) but I am extremely homesick. I can't really help you with the calorie part of the question, but at your age you shouldn't have much of a problem with the excess belly or loose skin in that area. Just make sure you're getting enough water. 2.5 kg sounds like a bit too much per week, though...you might want to slow that down because when you lose a little slower, you have a better chance of keeping it off.

HELP! 3 1/2 yr old still does NOT sleep thru the nite.?

There is nothing harder then lack of sleep!! I disagree with the Dr.s recommendation of locking her in her room.. how scary that would be! We allow our children to sleep next to us on the floor whenever they wake up and need some extra mom and dad time. We even keep a spare blanket and pillow by moms side of the bed for just such times. In fact, our oldest is 24 and our youngest is 7... so that blanket has been next to our bed for 22 years! LOL If the child trys to sneak in, I give a big hug and tell her her choices... "Honey, do you want to sleep next to me on the floor or go back to your bed?" They soon come in so quietly I do not know I have a child next to me on the floor until I almost step on them in the morning. Everyone gets a good sleep and feels loved.
