Where can a farang (westerner) find a gig as a musician in Bangkok?

I can play guitar, b, sing a bit (even some Carabao! i.e. Bua Loi.) Are there any places that an American can meet other foreigners to form a band or perform at and play American/British songs? Thai bands love playing English language cover songs and I know I can do a lot better than, "we to da 'otel Cowrifonia, such a ruvry pace." I'm not trying to be mean, but there has to be a market for accurately reproduced cover songs. There is a Thai guitar player that is very good and I respect a lot that plays at a bar near my apartment. He can play and sing "Tears In Heaven" very well, but it's just not supposed to be sung while smiling the whole time. It's not a happy song. That may be beside the point, but anyways, does anyone know of a place that caucasians can get a gig? Another random thought; when will Thai bands stop playing "Just The Way You Are" by Bruno Mars? I know they are just trying to be trendy, but it just doesn't work.
